We were thrilled to have Sam Harris debut his brand new CD, 'Free,” on our stage for an entire week. Of course, the place was filled with Sam's fans, fellow performers and his beloved Vlog-People.
The SRO Broadway at Birdland audiences were razzled and dazzled by two of the best singers on the planet this past week! We were thrilled to have Sam Harris (looking super, left) debut his brand new CD, 'Free,” on our stage for an entire week. Of course, the place was filled with Sam's fans, fellow performers and his beloved Vlog-People. (If you haven't been privy to his hilarious video blogs, click on SamTube! You'll become as obsessed with them as I have!) The new CD is spectacular - a great mix of the pop and R&B that Sam is known for, with hooky, original tunes you won't be able to get out of your head! Many thanks to Todd Forman for the beautiful photos of Sam's show. You can see more on our Flickr site! BroadwayWorld.com did a huge photo file on the event, too, thanks to Walter McBride!

On Monday night, we welcomed Diva-Extraordinaire Karen Mason back to her Birdland home with a sold-out show celebrating her new cd, “Right Here, Right Now.”
On Monday night, we welcomed Diva-Extraordinaire Karen Mason back to her Birdland home with a sold-out show celebrating her new CD, “Right Here, Right Now.” The evening was a major event, what with the cast of Hairspray in attendance, including Marissa Perry, Niki Scalera, Tevin Campbell, Susan Moshier, and Aubrey O'Day, all supporting their newest Velma Von Tussle! Check out all the great photos our jazzy photographer Steve Sorokoff took on the afore-mentioned Flickr Site!
It was so fun to have a visit by one of our favorite Tony-winning performers, Miss Cady Huffman.
The following Cast Party showed off some musical brilliance, some shocking performance art, and some just plain strange stuff.  As usual.  (Why are we constantly surprised by this fact?)  It was so fun to have a visit by one of our favorite Tony-winning performers, Miss Cady Huffman (left).  There were some fabulous regulars like Jenna Esposito, Rob Langeder, Carrie Jackson, David Goldman, Sammy Goldstein, The Nunziatta Brothers, The Locknar Sisters, Victoria Shaw, Gil Benson, Wade Dooley, and Max Haymer, and some brilliant newcomers like Patrick Oliver Jones, The Delivery Girls, Lauren Ianuzzi, Jonathan Shew and Stephen McLeanTedd Firth and Steve Doyle were the genius Cast Party Symphony Orchestra, and it just couldn't have been more fun.  The craziness continues next Monday, when I'll be hosting, and Tedd and Steve will be keeping the music swinging. Be there or be truly square.
- Jim!

The 40-piece orchestra enlisted by Koz and producer Phil Ramone provides a majestic, sweeping soundscape for the saxophonist and his guest vocalists, including Vanessa Williams, who contributes an exquisite version of "The Way We Were," and Johnny Mathis, who perfectly captures the bittersweet quality of "The Shadow Of Your Smile," from The Sandpiper. Other highlights include Anita Baker's elegant rendering of "Somewhere," from West Side Story and Donna Summer's shimmering version of "A Whole New World," from Disney's Aladdin. Barry Manilow duets with Koz on a hip arrangement of Henry Mancini's " Moon River," and India.Aire delivers a deeply personal performance of "It Must Be You," from Tootsie. SQUIGS DRAWS THE STARS. Justin 'Squigs' Robertson is well known in the Los Angeles theatre community for capturing show biz folks in pen and ink, and his acclaim is quickly spreading across the country. He loves sushi. His favorite song is 'It's Only A Paper Moon'. And he genuflects upon merely hearing the name of Al Hirschfeld. His whimsical illustration and design is aided and abetted by his parallel career as an actor and entertainer.
