Birdland was the scene of another Melissa Errico triumph! Showbiz insiders, including Tony-nominee Raul Esparza (left with Melissa, thanks to Mark Rupp), master lyricist David Zippel, choreographer Donald Saddler, producer-to-the-stars Phil Ramone, and cabaret legend Jamie deRoy, all packed the place to help celebrate their fave leading lady. We are so excited for Melissa's return to our stage - and we hope you'll be there to hear her spectacular voice and exquisite taste in music! Stay tuned..!
The following Cast Party was memorable for lots of great performances, including a powerhouse "Misty Blue" by TV's Brenda "The X-Factor" Edwards, the gorgeous trio from Oz (Lucy, Kirby and Erin), the classically thrilling John Easterlin, my old Texas pal Paul J. Williams, our favorite didgeri-dude Mark Rapp, and the return of the newly bouncin'-and-behavin' haired Julie Garnye (seen left with the always-swinging Tony DeSare). We spied former Miss America, Susan Powell, Drowsy Chaperone co-creator Lisa Lambert, and concert superstar Michael Feinstein lurking, watching, laughing, singing along, and enjoying the scene. If you'd like to see more photos of all the fun, click on Flickr or BroadwayWorld.com. Tedd Firth and Steve Doyle kept the tunes upbeat and on track untill the wee hours, which they will also be doing this coming Monday. We can only hope that you'll join in on the fun.
By the way, our Turks & Caicos trip was a rousing success - we were thrilled to meet so many talented folks, get some sun, eat some great food, and go sailing...all in the name of Cast Party!! Click on Turks & Caicos Cast Party...we almost promise you'll come back with a tan.

On Sunday, June 3 at 7pm, Jack Donahue and his band, led by Randy Ingram (piano), will perform songs from his new CD, "a small blue thing" (Two Maples Music). Of Donahue's last recording, Christopher Loudon of JAZZ TIMES wrote, "It's not every singer who can handle the carousel ebullience of Kenny Rankin's 'Haven't We Met,' the retro bounciness of 'You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby,' the saucy innuendo of Cole Porter's 'Let's Do It,' the inky grandeur of Kurt Weill's 'Lost in the Stars,' and the cheeky familiarity of Jay Leonhart's cocky 'Robert Frost' with parallel aplomb. Donahue can." Jack will be joined by Matt Clohesy on bass, Jared Schonig on drums, Marcus Parsley on trumpet, and 2-time Grammy winning guest vocalist Peter Eldridge. There will be a $25 cover and $10 food/drink minimum. Call Birdland at 212.581.3080 for reservations or www.BirdlandJazz.com.
The following night, Monday, June 4 at 7pm, I sure hope you'll come see Jim Caruso & Friends (A One-Man Show). I'm dragging my act out of mothballs and onto the Birdland stage for the very first time! I've talked my pal, Johnny Rodgers, into being the maestro for the evening, so it'll be like old times. We're gonna kick it old school, as the kids are so fond of saying. The show will feature songs by Johnny Mercer, Weird Al Yankovich, Fred Ebb, Carol Hall, Dave Frishberg, and will include an homage to my personal hero, Dick Van Dyke. You don't want to miss all that, do you?? There will be a $30 cover and $10 food/drink minimum. Call Birdland at 212.581.3080 or click www.BirdlandJazz.com to make reservations.

We're re-creating Kay Thompson and the Williams Brothers' historic nightclub act that took the world by storm in the late 40's and early 50's. Cortes Alexander, Johnny Rodgers, Clarke Thorell and I are working hard to approximate the blend and unique sound that Bob, Dick, Don, and Andy Williams brought to Kay's ingenious vocal arrangements, with Billy Stritch will be at the piano. ON THE CD, AT THE MOVIES , DAVE KOZ , A MULTI-GRAMMY NOMINATED SAX PLAYER with two gold albums and ten top 5 hits to his credit, takes center stage on eight instrumentals: "Over The Rainbow," " As Time Goes By," " The Pink Panther," "Summer of '42," " Cinema Paradiso," " Schindler's List," " It Might Be You" and " The Shadow of Your Smile." The 40-piece orchestra enlisted by Koz and producer Phil Ramone provides a majestic, sweeping soundscape for the saxophonist and his guest vocalists, including Vanessa Williams, who contributes an exquisite version of " The Way We Were," and Johnny Mathis, who perfectly captures the bittersweet quality of " The Shadow Of Your Smile," from The Sandpiper. Other highlights include Anita Baker's elegant rendering of " Somewhere," from West Side Story and Donna Summer's shimmering version of " A Whole New World," from Disney's Aladdin. Barry Manilow duets with Koz on a hip arrangement of Henry Mancini's " Moon River," and India.Aire delivers a deeply personal performance of " It Must Be You," from Tootsie. At The Movies is a must-have for music and film lovers everywhere. Disappear into another world and spend some time At The Movies.

sushi. His favorite song is 'It's Only A Paper Moon'. And he
genuflects upon merely hearing the name of Al Hirschfeld. His
whimsical illustration and design is aided and abetted by his parallel
career as an actor and entertainer. You can visit www.squigsink.com for a look at Squigs' take on such talented friends of Cast Party as

"The
Party simply glows with New York nightlife ambiance. It feels like a
throwback to another era but it has this era's top-notch entertainers
dropping in to schmooze, sing, eat, and drink. Caruso consistently provides a flow of exciting singers, and he's definitely
hip, cool and classy all by himself."
