Last Monday was truly a night to remember! First off, Cady Huffman's Birthday Bash at Birdland was brilliantly bawdy and beautiful, and packed with talented folks like Sandra Bernhard (left with Cady, thanks to Mark Rupp), Julie White, Jack Noseworthy, Nancy Anderson, Joey Slotnik and so many more. Then, I ran to Town Hall, where our Broadway at Birdland series was honored with a Nightlife Award! I was thrilled to accept the award from Liza Minnelli (below left), who raved about the series, saying, "The music is sublime, everyone has a ball, and it's the best damn party in town!"

 As if that weren't enough, Melissa Errico was on hand to give the 1500 lucky audience members a taste of what our series is about with her extraordinary performance of "Not While I'm Around." (Check out BroadwayWorld.com, TheaterMania, and Variety to see and read all about it.) I then hurled myself back to Birdland for another crazy Cast Party. I constantly use the words 'varied' and 'diverse' when recounting our Mondays, but please -- how else can you describe a party peopled by an Academy Award-winner (Celeste Holm), a Fox News Anchor (Suzanne Sena) and the Village People cowboy (Randy Jones)? Now THAT'S the kind of party I want to go to. David Budway and Steve Doyle were the Symphony du Jour, so the joint was jumpin'. (Check out the photos on Flickr.) We'll do it all again next week, and it should be extry-fun, because it's my birthday! (Did you catch that everybody? Now none of us can say we weren't warned. -- ed.) Billy Stritch will be at the piano, Steve Doyle will be on bass, and I will age before your very eyes. Come serenade me with your favorite up-tempo, peppy, zippy ditty!

 This coming Monday, February 5, we're thrilled to present a totally sold-out 7pm benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS called Leading Men 2. Hosted by John Tartaglia, the event will star Broadway and cabaret guys Tom Andersen, Jim Caruso, Matt Cavennaugh, Tim DiPasqua, David Gurland, Telly Leung, Norm Lewis, Perry Ojeda, Daniel Reichard, Ben Strothmann, Jim Walton, and John Lloyd Young. Seth Rudetsky will serve as musical director, Alan Muraoka directs and Wayman Wong will produce. We'll tell you all about it in the newsletter next week!
The following Monday, February 12, we're proud to present Donna Lynne Champlin (left) in her show, Finishing The Hat at 7pm. Donna, who recently starred in the Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd, as well as James Joyce's The Dead, By Jeeves and Hollywood Arms, will be bringing an inspired pairing of stories and songs from her professional and personal adventures (such as 'Stalking Brian D'Arcy James' and 'The Worst Audition Ever') that the audience picks randomly from a hat. David Hurst of Cabaret Scenes Magazine calls the evening 'hilarious, heartbreaking and brilliant,' and Peter Filichia of TheaterMania asks 'Why can't all cabarets be as wonderful as, Finishing The Hat' You can call the Birdland box office at 212.581.3080 or www.InstantSeats.com/Birdland.  MINNELLI & CARUSO: TOGETHER AGAIN... I'm beyond excited to tell you that I'll be performing on the road with my amazing friend Liza Minnelli quite a bit this next year! We're re-creating Kay Thompson and the Williams Brothers' historic nightclub act that took the world by storm in the late 40's and early 50's. Cortes Alexander, Johnny Rodgers, Clarke Thorell and I are working hard to approximate the blend and unique sound that Bob, Dick, Don, and Andy Williams brought to Kay's ingenious vocal arrangements, with Billy Stritch will be at the piano.
