Michael Estwanik and Rebecca Luker

December 9, 2005

It was fantastic to have Susan Egan and Christopher McGovern on the Birdland stage, bringing absolutely gorgeous music to a room filled with so many fans! They're West Coasters now, but we can't wait to host another show of theirs…and soon! The following Cast Party was fun, too. Tedd Firth and Saadi Zain on piano and bass were brilliant, accompanying lots of regulars, along with newbies like Grace Garland, Spencer Rowe and Tony Middleton. Broadway leading lady Rebecca Luker (above with Michael Estwanik, President of The Songbook Project) sang two Jeff Blumenkrantz songs (with Jeff at the piano!), giving us a taste of what's she's bringing to Feinstein's at the Regency on December 12-15. That show is on the Must-See list! She's gorgeous, funny and has one of the purest voices in showbiz. I personally loved her as Marion the Librarian in Music Man on the Broadway. And Maria in Sound of Music. And everything else she's ever done. We also got a taste of Danny & Sylvia, the upcoming show about Danny Kaye and his wife, amazingly performed by Brian Childers and Amy Bermowitz.

With the holidays coming on and all, we thought it might be nice to get you in the mood with a little music, and a wee bit of advice: if you're going to play in a church concert, best to stay off the crack.
