The Newlyweds: Mr. and Mrs. Green

November 11, 2005

Well…it was one for the books. Monday's Cast Party was home to a wedding reception. (See the freshly-wed Mr. and Mrs. Green at right.) We didn't know these people, so we're still a little foggy on how they chose us for their big day, but there was a gigantic table of bouteniered/corsaged folks being serenaded by the mellow sounds of such varied performers as Erich Bergen, Natalie Douglas, David Ippolito, Sean Harkness, David Goldman, Ray Jessell, Darius deHaas, Erin Quill, Lodi Carr, Randi Driscoll, Noah Heldman, Erika, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Christine Pedi, Michael Quinn, Joan Crowe, Christine Lavin and her glowing batons, and on and on. I can only hope that the Cast Party t-shirts we presented to the bride and groom were enjoyed later that night…if you know what I mean.

Coming up...

Suzzanne DouglasThis coming Monday, November 14, Under The Covers With Victoria Shaw is completely sold out! If you're desperado to see Vic and her pals Gary Burr and Bob DiPiero celebrate Country Music Week, feel free to amble over to Birdland early to snag a barstool. The show is at 7pm. This is always one of my favorite shows of the season...these three writers have a total of 30 #1 songs! The following Cast Party will be celebrating the cast of Love! Valour! Compassion!, who, from all accounts, will be clothed.

Then...on Tuesday, November 15, Suzzanne Douglas (above) is bringing her sensational new tribute to Abbey Lincoln to Birdland for one performance at 7pm. You might know Suzzanne from her performances in Three Penny Opera (opposite Sting), The Tap Dance Kid, Into The Woods and Sophisticated Ladies. She was also honored with a NAACP Image Award for her performance in the film "Tap," and played Angela in "How Stella Got Her Groove Back!"

On Monday, November 28, the club will again be packed with show-biz royalty, as Charles Busch and Julie Halston storm the stage at 7pm! It's more than two weeks away, but selling really, really fast. These two stage buddies were seen together in March, starring in their sold-out concert at the Music Box Theatre. Now we got 'em! Scamper over to the phone and call Birdland at 212.581.3080 for a reservation. You can also click on THE WINTER SEASON to peruse the other concerts we've cooked up for you!

Just a reminder that I'll be singing at Carnegie Hall this coming Wednesday in “Bob & Bing - Two For The Road” along with Michael Feinstein, Susan Egan, Marcy Heisler, Zina Goldrich, Rebecca Kilgore and my pal Johnny Rodgers. It's a concert celebrating the music of Hope and Crosby, and will be a fabulously funny and musically delicious evening! I'd love to see you there…I'll be the one in the tuxedo and I'll wave to you, I promise. Thanks to the Michaels Feinstein and Kerker for the invitation! And on BroadwayWorld.com...

Karen Mason Drive! This is the last week of this episode, but stay tuned for next week's show, which will feature Almost Heaven's Jim Newman, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Kevin Cahoon and lots more!

On this week's episode of Cast Party - The Radio Show, I chat with Broadway/cabaret superstar, Karen Mason (right) about her two-week run at The Encore and brand new CD, “The Sweetest Of Nights.” You'll also be the first to hear two gorgeous tracks! We'll also play never-before-heard recordings of Max von Essen, Christopher Sieber and Amanda McBroom singing their hearts out at Birdland. Rounding out the show is a very funny recording that has been making the rounds of the smart theatrical set. It's taken from a local theater's voice mail, and is someone's rather...unique…way of auditioning for a show. You'll love it! Tune in every Tuesday and Friday night at 8pm exclusively on BroadwayWorld.com! We're a podcast, now, too! Go to The Radio Show for all the info!

In the words of Liza Minnelli, "Cast Party IS New York!"

Cast Party Radio Show is produced by Brian Wilson at SoHa Media.
