Last
week's benefit for The Matthew Shepard Foundation was
truly beautiful, thanks to Randi Driscoll (strapless
at right surrounded by cast members L-R Scott Nevins,
deMarco DeCiccio, Jason Warner, me,
Noah Heldman and Max von Essen.) You
can see more photos by Genevieve Keddy on BroadwayWorld.com.
The concert segued smoothly into yet another shockingly varied Cast
Party, where pop, jazz, comedy, folk, gospel, and the occasional
show tune were sung by some of the most talented people in town. Thanks
to all of them for keeping the material upbeat, peppy, joyful and above
all, fun!

This
coming Monday, October 17, we're thrilled to bring the
musical-theater songwriting team, Amanda Green and Tom Kitt
(right), back to the Birdland stage as part
of our THIRD
SEASON! They are known for bringing a cast of thousands with
them, but this time, it's “Amanda & Tom Play With Themselves!”
At least that was the original thought. I've just been told that they've
added a few Broadway supah-stars to join in on the musical naughtiness,
including Jenn Colella (Slut),
Jeny Foote (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels)
and Will Chase (Lennon). I
expect we might even hear a few tunes from Mandy and Tom's upcoming Broadway-bound
adaptation of High Fidelity! Call the club at
212.581.3080 for reservations. They always pack the place
and you'll want to be part of the fun!
Speaking of Slut,
the Cast Party that follows the above concert will be
filled with them. Yes. You heard me. It will be sluts-aplenty. Beaucoup
des slut. We will be celebrating the cast and creators of the Off-Broadway
musical, Slut, which is currently running at
the American Theatre of Actors. It's one of the nicest,
funniest, cutest casts in town, so we figured it was high time to toast
their success! Tedd Firth will be holding court at the
piano, and Steve Doyle will be playing all the low notes
on the bass. We can't wait to see you! Call the club for a reservation
if you want to guarantee a table.
I'm thrilled to tell you that I'll be singing two tunes in Town
Hall's first annual Broadway Cabaret Festival
on Friday, October 21. The show, a tribute to my favorite
composers Kander & Ebb, will also star Nancy
Anderson, Bryan Batt, Brent Barrett,
Jarron Cafaro, Belle Calaway, Scott
Coulter, Cheyenne Jackson, Sharon McNight,
Rachelle Rak, Billy Stritch, Michael
Winther and Rachel York. Not a bad lineup that
producer/writer/pal Scott Siegel has put together! Tickets
may be purchased at The Town Hall box office at 123
West 43rd Street between noon and 6 PM every day but Sunday tickets
may also be purchased at Ticketmaster: 212.307.4100
or online at TicketMaster.com.
Like they (kind of) said, “Come to the Cabaret Festival,
old chum…”

"The Party simply
glows with New York nightlife ambiance. It feels like a throwback to another
era but it has this era's top-notch entertainers dropping in to schmooze,
sing, eat, and drink. Caruso consistently provides a
flow of exciting singers, and he's definitely hip, cool and classy all
by himself."
