Daniel Garcia and Sarune

March 04, 2005

It’s good to know that a little snow can’t dampen the Cast Party spirits. Birdland was filled with Party-Onners Monday night, and the result was a hilarious and musically satisfying evening! (See Sarune and Daniel Garcia at right.) We all felt very multi-national when the very Swiss Béat and the downright German Sabine jazzed up the night. Any night with Christine Lavin is a good one, too, and this was no exception. Not only is Chris a brilliant guitarist/singer/songwriter, she is known far and wide as the Mother Teresa of Folk Music. In a miracle of show business, she bandies about the names of other performers in selfless acts of promotional glee. She’s one of the best friends Cast Party has and we’re so thrilled that she is a regular!

Coming up...

Marcy and ZinaThis Monday we expect an amazing Cast Party, if only because The Marcy & Zina Show is sold-out at 7pm! Packed to the gills. In the immortal words of Fanny Brice, "SRO, kid, all the way." As always, M&Z (right) have put together a cast of brilliant performers to sing their smart ditties, and this week their guests are John Tartaglia, Ana Gasteyer, Scott Coulter, Amanda Green, Jeremy Schonfeld, Julia Murney and the cast of Junie B. Jones. Unfortunately (and this is a *News Flash*), Max von Essen has to bow out of his upcoming Birdland gig on March 28 because of scheduling problems with the Paper Mill Playhouse production of The Baker’s Wife. But I’m so thrilled that Marcy & Zina have consented to step in for their pal Max! Watch for news about their special guests, but make reservations NOW (212.581.3080)! Don’t forget that the divine Natalie Douglas will be reprising her tribute to Nina Simone, "To Nina," at Birdland on Monday, March 21 at 7pm. This show was such a gigantic hit that it was recorded onto the new CD format all the kids are crazy about. Check out Wrong Black Girl Productions Presents... NATALIE DOUGLAS, and make a reservation for the show!

Danny GurwinThis week on Cast Party - The Radio Show, we replay one of our all-time-most-listened-to episodes. Little Women's Danny Gurwin (right) discusses the show and opening night festivities, and we hear some never-heard demos of the show! Then, listen to Jim's interview with the funniest woman on the planet, Julie Halston, currently starring on Broadway in Hairspray. And get ready for the All-Star Liza Birthday Spectacular...coming next week!

About Jim Caruso's Cast Party...

Look at all the fabulous people!
"The Party simply glows with New York nightlife ambiance. It feels like a throwback to another era but it has this era's top-notch entertainers dropping in to schmooze, sing, eat, and drink. Caruso consistently provides a flow of exciting singers, and he's definitely hip, cool and classy all by himself."
