Claude McKnight and Patricia Moreno

January 27, 2006

I can't begin to tell you how thrilled we were to see Claude McKnight and Patricia Moreno (pictured right) in the audience at Cast Party on Monday. Claude is one-sixth of the absolutely genius vocal group, Take 6, whom I've enjoyed in concert a half-dozen times. Patricia was the gorgeous on-air trainer when I was booking talent on the “Fox After Breakfast” talk show. One of the all-time great CP moments took place Monday when Claude stormed the stage to sing with David Budway and Steve Doyle. He even graced us with a virtual trombone solo. So cool. Speaking of trombones, the ultra-hip Todd Londagin showed up, sang, played an actual horn, and showed off his hoofing skills. Check out his most excellent site. Our fingers are crossed that he becomes a regular. Our great pals Emily Drennan (Hunka Burning Love), Scott Porter (Altar Boyz) and Rene Ruiz (Toxic Audio) sang some mean backup and beatbox for Natalie Douglas. Then the tables were turned and Emily took the lead. It was all too much fun.

Coming up...

Darius de HaasFinally! This Monday, Darius de Haas, whom the New York Times calls, "an astonishing vocal acrobat,” will make his Birdland concert debut on Monday, January 30 at 7pm. He'll be performing a combination of material from his highly acclaimed Stevie Wonder and Billy Strayhorn-themed Lincoln Center concerts, along with a few new originals. You probably know Darius from his Broadway performances in Rent, Carousel, Marie Christine, Kiss of the Spider Woman and The Gershwin's Fascinating Rhythm. He won the Obie Award for his performance in The Running Man, and has been a soloist in concerts at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, London's Royal Festival Hall and LA's Disney Concert Hall. Most recently, he has been singing on the road with Vanessa Williams…and although we can't say who (hint, hint), expect a very special guest star joining Darius at Birdland! You better call 212.581.3080 to make a reservation now!
